The 2014 Florida Gators Basketball Team – Where Are They Now? – Hail Florida Hail

The 2013-2014 Gator basketball team was probably the best squad in Gainesville ever since the back to back titles in 2006-2007. They won the SEC Tournament and earned the #1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

While they fell short to Shabazz Napier and UCONN, the eventual champions, this was still one of UF’s best basketball teams of all time.

So what ever happened to the guys on this squad?

Scottie Wilbekin – PG #5

Wilbekin was the leader of this Final Four team. He was named the SEC Player of the Year and made first team All-SEC in 2014.

Despite these accolades, Wilbekin went undrafted in 2014, and signed with the Cairns Taipans, an organization in the NBL (National Basketball League), where he won the clubs’ defensive player of the year and MVP.

He later signed with Greek club AEK, where he played 9 games and scored 8 points while dishing out 4 assists.

Wilbekin did make an NBA roster in 2015, when he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers and signed a 4 year deal, but was waived after playing in 5 preseason games.

Later on in 2015 he signed with Darüşşafaka Doğuş, a Turkish club, where he played until 2018, and now plays for Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he’s played for 5 years already.

Michael Frazier II – SG #20

Michael Frazier II was the best shooter on this Gators squad, and he set the school record for 3’s in a game with 11 in a contest against South Carolina.

Frazier has made plenty of stops during his professional career. He went undrafted in the 2015 draft and signed with the Golden State Warriors for the 2015 summer league. He later signed with the Lakers but was waived after 4 pre season games.

He made 3 stops in the NBA G-League, playing for the LA D-Fenders (now the South Bay Lakers), Iowa Energy(now Wolves), and the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

In 2016 Frazier signed with Scaligera Basket Verona, an Italian club in Verona, Italy. The next year he played for German club MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg.

He then went back to the G-League for 3 years, playing for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers for 2 years and the Delaware Blue Coats for 1.

Frazier now plays for the Perth Wildcats, an Australian team who plays in the NBL.

Patric Young – C  #4

Patric Young was the fiery big man of this Gators squad. He won SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2014, and was 2nd Team All SEC that same year.

After going undrafted in 2014, he joined the New Orleans Pelicans for the summer league, and signed with them professionally, but was waived before appearing in a game.

Late in 2014, he signed with Galatasaray S.K of the Turkish Basketball Super League, where he averaged 10.5 points and 8 rebounds a game.

He came back to America in 2015 when he signed with the Phoenix Suns for the 2015 Summer League, but was waived and signed with Greek team Olympiacos that July.

In 2017 he signed with Olimpia Milano, an Italian club in the LBA, and went to Scandone Avellino, a different Italian team the next year.

In 2020 he signed with Hapoel Gilboa Galil, a squad in the Israeli Basketball Premier League, but left the team in October 2020 for personal reasons, and hasn’t played professionally since.

Will Yeguete – F #15

Yeguete was one of the most experienced guys on the Final Four team, having been to an Elite Eight the three years before hand.

He was undrafted in 2014, and went to play for STB Le Havre, a team in the Pro B Division of the LNB.

The next year he played for another French club Pau-Orthez, in the Pro A Division, where he won Pro A Most Improved Player.

The following season he was a part of Le Mans SB, a team in the French League, where he played for 3 seasons.

Now, he’s a member of AS Monaco, where he won a EuroCup Championship in 2021.

Casey Prather – SF #24

Prather was the final key piece of the 2014 Gators rotation. He was named to the First Team All-SEC squad in 2014.

He was undrafted in 2014 and played for Bakersfield Jam, an NBA G-League team in Detroit. After a year there, he went international and played for the Perth Wildcats for 2 years, where he won an NBL Championship.

In 2017, he spent the beginning of the season in Germany playing for Ratiopharm Ulm, and finished the year as a member of Melborne United.

He then spent a year on Promitheas Patras, a Greek team, before returning to Melbourne United in 2019.

Now, he plays for Hapoel Eilat, an Israeli team where he won the Israeli League MVP in 2021.

Keep up with Gators hoops here.
