Live NBA Playoffs updates: Heat vs. Hawks, Bucks vs. Bulls and Suns vs. Pelicans – The Athletic

Before the Bucks’ Game 3 shootaround in Chicago today, reporters were given the chance to chat with Khris Middleton. After suffering a left MCL sprain in Game 2, the Bucks announced that he will be out at least the next two weeks before getting re-evaluated, which will keep him out for at least the remainder of the Bucks’ first round series against the Bulls.

Bucks beat writer Eric Nehm wrote about how the Bucks can try to replace Middleton’s production here.

Here was his brief session with reporters.

Dennis Scott, NBA TV: What did you feel when it happened?

Khris: “Just felt something go loose in my knee. Tried to shake it off, play it off for a little bit, but unfortunately, it didn’t feel right, so at that point, just wanted to get it checked out and that’s when they kind of told me the news.”

Dennis Scott, NBA TV: What do you do now with the training staff? Take us through your day-to-day.

Khris: “Just listen to the training staff. I’ve been through a couple rehab sessions with them before and they’ve got me back 100 percent and then stronger most of the time. So just gonna listen to them, focus on my rehab and try to be here for these guys, be a cheerleader for them. Hopefully they take care of business.”

Dennis Scott, NBA TV: Last year, the team needed to do something similar when Giannis Antetokounmpo went down during the Eastern Conference Finals. How do you expect your teammates to use that experience for your injury this season?

Khris: “Do the same thing. We did it last year as a group. When Giannis went down, everybody stepped up and played a major part. I expect nothing less. I feel like guys are ready to step up and play and they know right now, it’s win or go home time, so I know they’re going to give it their all.”

Eric Nehm: We were told two weeks until you get re-evaluated. Do you think you have a chance to play next round?

Khris: I hope so. For sure. They say two weeks, hopefully I’ll be ready or close to getting on the court around then.
