NEWS: Frank Lampard charged by FA for comments about referee after Everton’s loss to Liverpool

Frank Lampard has been charged by the Football Association (FA) over comments made in the wake of Everton’s 2-0 Merseyside derby defeat to Liverpool on April 24.

The charge relates to Lampard’s opinion on the non-award of a penalty by referee Stuart Attwell.

In the second half, Everton winger Anthony Gordon was tackled in the penalty area by Liverpool’s Joel Matip. Attwell waved away Everton’s appeals for a spot-kick. The incident was also checked by the video assistant referee, Darren England.

“It was a penalty,” Lampard said after the match. “If that was Mo Salah at the other end, he gets a penalty.”

Luton supporters complain about treatment at Fulham

Luton Town have received complaints from fans over how they were treated at Craven Cottage on Monday.

Luton have claimed their fans were treated aggressively by stewards during their trip to west London. The promotion hopefuls lost 7-0 to the Championship title winners.

Luton have said in a club statement: “Luton Town Football Club has received numerous complaints from supporters who attended yesterday’s match over their treatment by police and stewards at Craven Cottage.

“As has been reported and indeed witnessed by fellow supporters, members of our Club staff and Club stewards who were invited to attend the game, for children and senior supporters to be stewarded so aggressively, is disappointing and unacceptable.

“We would like to reassure those who have raised issues that Club officials will be in contact with Fulham and the Met Police to ensure they are investigated fully.”
