Ada Hegerberg is one of the biggest stars in women’s football.
She won the first ever Ballon d’Or Feminin in 2018 and holds records including the all-time Women’s Champions League goalscoring mark. Now 26 years old, the striker has played most of her career in France for the mighty Lyon.
Her international career, however, has been a rollercoaster — and after missing out on the last big tournament for Norway, much of the past few years has been spent wondering if she would be back in time to play in England this summer.
Here are the latest details on Hegerberg and Norway ahead of the tournament.

Is Ada Hegerberg playing at UEFA Women’s EURO 2022?
Ada Hegerberg has been named in the Norway squad for the Women’s Euros. Head coach Martin Sjogren announced his squad of 23 on Tuesday, June 7.
This summer, Norway are looking to improve on their best-ever Euros finish, when they were runners-up in 2013, losing 1-0 to Germany in the final.
Why wasn’t Ada Hegerberg in the Norway squad last year?
Hegerberg removed herself from selection for international football in 2017 as a protest against the treatment of the women’s game by Norway’s footballing authorities. She missed the 2019 Women’s World Cup, when Norway made it to the quarter-finals but lost 3-0 to England.
Speaking that year to Norwegian magazine Josimar, Hegerberg explained: “It was tough at so many [international] camps. I have been broken mentally.
“It has been a deeply depressing feeling. I had nightmares after being with the national team, you shouldn’t have things like that. If you want to get anywhere in life you have to make choices.
“Immediately the thought came into my mind: ‘I think I’ll have to stop playing for the national team’. [Then] everything just ran off and I started to sleep well again.”
She made herself available for selection as from March 2022 and scored a hat-trick against Kosovo in her first game back.

Has Ada Hegerberg been injured?
Hegerberg ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in January 2020. Although some of her recovery time was during the Covid-enforced break, she spent almost two years on the sidelines, coming back as a late substitute in Lyon’s comfortable 3-0 victory over BK Hacken at the start of their Women’s Champions League campaign.
What trophies has Ada Hegerberg won?
Apart from her individual awards, she has won seven league titles, five Coupes de France and six Women’s Champions Leagues with Lyon.
