It’s been a breakout postseason for former Michigan basketball standout Jordan Poole who made his mark on the NBA finals Sunday night.
Michigan basketball fans will always have fond memories of Jordan Poole. How could they not after his game-winning shot against Houston back in 2018?
Michigan trailed the Cougars in the second round of the NCAA Tournament by two with just a few seconds left and Poole, a freshman, hit a 3-pointer from just across halfcourt to send the Wolverines to the Sweet 16.
His reaction was legendary as he ran around the court avoiding his Michigan basketball teammates and eventually the Wolverines made the national title game.

It’s one of the great Michigan basketball moments of all time, and Warriors fans are getting a taste of just how special Poole can be during these NBA playoffs.
Coming off the bench, Poole has been clutch for Golden State and a huge part of the Warriors’ resurgent run to the NBA finals. He struggled in Game 1 vs Boston but on Sunday night, he was back to himself and hit this mind-blowing shot to end the third quarter.
That triple capped a 19-2 run by Golden State and Poole’s shot put the Warriors up 23 points heading into the fourth quarter of a game they eventually won to even the series.
Poole later said during a TV interview after the game about his 3-pointer, “I have endless range.”
As Michigan basketball fans can attest to, that’s pretty accurate. In all, Poole played 23 minutes in the 107-88 win for the Warriors, scoring 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting. He was 5-for-9 from 3-point range and added two steals, three boards, and two assists for good measure.
Poole wasn’t the only former Michigan basketball player to get into the game. Nik Stauskas is active on the Celtics and while he hasn’t played much this postseason, he saw four minutes in Game 2 and scored four points with one made 3-pointer. He also grabbed three boards and had an assist. Game 3 between the Warriors and Celtics will be Wednesday in Boston.
